By creating a Sniffy account, you agree to these terms. If you disagree, do not use the platform.
Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Sniffy. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement.
Listings
You may only list fragrances you own and can ship. Listings must include real photos of the actual bottle. Fake, counterfeit, or misrepresented listings will result in an immediate ban.
Trades
Offers that receive no response expire after 48 hours. Once an offer is accepted and paid, either party may cancel before the item ships (the buyer is refunded in full). After shipping, both parties are committed to completing the trade; ghosting a confirmed trade earns a strike. All cash trades are processed through Sniffy's escrow system: payment is held until the buyer confirms receipt, and releases automatically 48 hours after the buyer confirms delivery if no dispute is opened.
Fees
Sniffy charges a 10% platform fee on cash sales (5% for active Sniffy Gold members), deducted from the seller's payout at release. Shipping is $10.95 for full bottles and $4.95 for decants, tracked and insured for the full sale value (up to $5,000), paid by the buyer at checkout. If the seller marks a listing as "price includes shipping & insurance", the buyer pays nothing for shipping and the actual cost of the prepaid label (USPS postage plus 1% insurance, typically $8–11) is deducted from the seller's payout at release. Buyers also pay card processing (2.9% + $0.30) at checkout; there is no Sniffy platform fee for buyers. For swap trades, each party pays a refundable deposit — $25 by default, or either party may set their own from $10 to $2,000 — plus a $2 non-refundable swap fee and $10.95 for a prepaid, insured shipping label (non-refundable once the trade proceeds). At the default deposit that is $37.95 per side. Deposits are refunded in full when both parties confirm receipt. If the swap is cancelled before either party ships, the deposit, fee and label charge are all refunded. A party who never ships, or who loses a dispute, forfeits their deposit to the other side. Cash-on-top in an uneven swap is held in escrow and paid to the receiving party minus the applicable platform fee when the swap completes. Boosts cost $5 for 7 days or $10 for 14 days. If a dispute is resolved in the buyer's favor, the purchase price is refunded to the buyer's original payment method.
Sniffy Gold Subscription
Sniffy Gold is an optional membership costing $7.99 per month. It renews automatically each month via Stripe until you cancel. You can cancel any time by using the contact form or replying to any Sniffy email; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and benefits continue until then. Subscription fees are non-refundable and not prorated for partial months. We may change Gold's price or benefits with advance notice.
Sniffy Bonds
Sniffy Bonds are optional deposits of $10 or more a seller places with Sniffy to signal confidence in a listing. If a dispute is decided against the seller, the bond may be forfeited in whole or in part to the Sniffy Protection Fund. Otherwise the bond is refunded automatically when the related trade completes successfully. Bonds earn no interest, have no cash value beyond their refund amount, and are not insurance or an investment.
Disputes & Videos
A buyer (or either party to a swap) may open a dispute within the 48-hour inspection window; funds stay frozen while it is open. Disputes may be decided by a panel of community jurors together with Sniffy staff, and a majority decision is binding; if not enough jurors are available, Sniffy staff decide. Where a boxing video is required for a trade, the shipping label is not issued until it is uploaded. Trade videos are deleted automatically 48 hours after a trade completes without a dispute.
Notifications
SMS notifications are opt-in and require a verified phone number; reply STOP to any message to opt out. Email and push notifications can be managed from your account.
Boosts & Listings
Listing is free and there is currently no cap on active listings. Paid boosts and "featured" placements are advertising services, non-refundable once the placement begins, and do not guarantee a sale.
Third-Party Decant Directory
The Decant Directory lists independent third-party shops. Clicking through takes you off Sniffy; those purchases are not processed by Sniffy and are not covered by escrow, the Protection Fund, or our dispute process. We review shops before listing but do not guarantee their products, pricing, or service.
Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, including under our Strike System (three strikes = permanent ban), which is incorporated into these Terms. On termination we may hold pending payouts until open trades and disputes resolve. You may close your account any time; escrowed funds for in-flight trades are still processed to completion.
Prohibited Content
You may not list counterfeit goods, stolen items, or items not related to fragrance. You may not use the platform to harass, defraud, or threaten other users.
Limitation of Liability
Sniffy is a marketplace platform. We facilitate trades but are not a party to them, and the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. In cases of confirmed fraud the Protection Fund may apply at our discretion. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sniffy's total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
