By creating a Sniffy account, you agree to these terms. If you disagree, do not use the platform.
Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Sniffy. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement.
Listings
You may only list fragrances you own and can ship. Listings must include real photos of the actual bottle. Counterfeit listings are grounds for an immediate permanent ban, and fake or misrepresented listings earn strikes under our Strike System (three strikes = permanent ban).
Trades
Offers that receive no response expire after 48 hours. Once an offer is accepted and paid, either party may cancel before the item ships (the buyer is refunded in full). After shipping, both parties are committed to completing the trade; ghosting a confirmed trade earns a strike. All cash trades are processed through Sniffy's escrow system: payment is held until the buyer confirms receipt, and releases automatically 48 hours after the buyer confirms delivery if no dispute is opened; if the buyer doesn't confirm, it releases automatically 72 hours after the carrier shows the package delivered (7 days for a seller's first three sales) unless a dispute is opened. All trades must be paid in the Sniffy app; deals arranged or paid outside Sniffy are not protected by escrow, disputes or the Protection Vault.
Fees
Sniffy charges a 10% platform fee on cash sales, deducted from the seller's payout at release. Shipping is the exact price of the cheapest insured, tracked USPS label from the seller's ZIP code to the buyer's address (postage plus insurance for the full sale value, up to $5,000), shown to the buyer before payment and paid by the buyer at checkout, with no markup. Decants and samples are priced as a padded mailer, and several items from one seller ship together for one shipping charge. If the seller ships with their own label instead of Sniffy's prepaid label, the shipping the buyer paid is added to the seller's payout; it is not refunded to the buyer. If the seller marks a listing as "price includes shipping & insurance", the buyer pays nothing for shipping and the actual cost of the prepaid label (USPS postage plus 1% insurance, typically $8–11) is deducted from the seller's payout at release. Buyers also pay card processing (2.9% + $0.30) at checkout; there is no Sniffy platform fee for buyers. For trades, each party pays a refundable deposit — as little as 10% of your bottle's value (never under $10), or as much as you want — plus a $5 non-refundable trade fee and the quoted price of a prepaid, insured shipping label (the cheapest USPS rate for your box plus insurance, shown before you pay; $0 if you ship with your own label, which Sniffy does not insure; non-refundable once the trade proceeds). At the default $25 deposit that is $30 per side plus the label. Deposits are refunded in full when both parties confirm receipt. If the trade is cancelled before either party ships, the deposit, fee and label charge are all refunded. A party who never ships, or who loses a dispute, forfeits their deposit to the other side. Cash-on-top in an uneven trade is held in escrow and paid to the receiving party in full when the trade completes; Sniffy takes no fee on it, and the party adding it pays only card processing (2.9%) on that amount. Boosts cost $5 for 7 days or $10 for 14 days. If a dispute is resolved in the buyer's favor, the purchase price is refunded to the buyer's original payment method.
Sniffy Bonds
Sniffy Bonds are optional deposits of $10 or more a seller places with Sniffy to signal confidence in a listing. If a dispute is decided against the seller, the bond may be forfeited in whole or in part to the Sniffy Protection Vault. Otherwise the bond is refunded automatically when the related trade completes successfully. Bonds earn no interest, have no cash value beyond their refund amount, and are not insurance or an investment.
Disputes & Videos
A buyer (or either party to a trade) may open a dispute within the 48-hour inspection window, or, on a shipped cash sale that still hasn't arrived 7 or more days after payment, a 'never arrived' dispute (funds stay frozen while it is open and are not refunded automatically); funds stay frozen while it is open. For cash sales, if USPS tracking shows the item delivered and the buyer has neither confirmed receipt nor opened a dispute within 72 hours of delivery (7 days for a seller's first three completed sales), the payment is released to the seller automatically. If a card issuer opens a chargeback on a payment, Sniffy freezes the related escrow funds until the chargeback is resolved. Disputes are decided by Sniffy staff, and the decision is binding. The Sniffy Protection Vault is a discretionary fund, not insurance: it may compensate a member, up to the amount lost and limited to the Vault's balance, only where every requirement listed at sniffymarketplace.com/vault was met and the trade still went wrong. Where any requirement was not met, the most a member may recover is the other party's deposit and/or the other party not being paid. Where a boxing video is required for a trade, the shipping label is not issued until it is uploaded. Trade videos are deleted automatically 48 hours after a trade completes without a dispute.
Notifications
SMS notifications are opt-in and require a verified phone number; reply STOP to any message to opt out. Email and push notifications can be managed from your account.
Boosts & Listings
Listing is free and there is currently no cap on active listings. Paid boosts and "featured" placements are advertising services, non-refundable once the placement begins, and do not guarantee a sale.
Third-Party Decant Directory
The Decant Directory lists independent third-party shops. Clicking through takes you off Sniffy; those purchases are not processed by Sniffy and are not covered by escrow, the Protection Vault, or our dispute process. We review shops before listing but do not guarantee their products, pricing, or service.
Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, including under our Strike System (three strikes = permanent ban), which is incorporated into these Terms. On termination we may hold pending payouts until open trades and disputes resolve. You may close your account any time; escrowed funds for in-flight trades are still processed to completion.
Prohibited Content
You may not list counterfeit goods, stolen items, or items not related to fragrance. You may not use the platform to harass, defraud, or threaten other users.
Limitation of Liability
Sniffy is a marketplace platform. We facilitate trades but are not a party to them, and the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. In cases of confirmed fraud where every Protection Vault requirement was met, the Protection Vault may apply at our discretion, limited to its balance. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sniffy's total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York.
Assignment
Sniffy may assign or transfer these Terms, and any of its rights and obligations under them, without your consent, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of all or part of its assets. You may not assign or transfer these Terms, or any of your rights or obligations under them, without Sniffy's prior written consent; any attempt to do so without that consent is void.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
