How it works

The Vault is the last line of defense, not the first.

You met every requirement below

If the trade still goes wrong, the Vault can pay you up to the full amount you lost, after Sniffy reviews your case.

You skipped even one

The Vault can't pay you. The most you can get is the other side's deposit and/or the other side not being paid.

Most bad trades are stopped long before the Vault is needed. The photos you ask for and the research you do are what actually protect you, so the Vault only rewards people who did that work.

The requirements

All of them, every time. If you can't tick one, don't shake on the deal.

  1. You asked questions in Sniffy chatCondition, fill level, where it came from, how long they've had it. Every conversation stayed inside Sniffy so it's on record.
  2. You researched the bottleYou looked up what an authentic bottle, box, batch code and atomizer look like for that fragrance and year (the house's own photos, Fragrantica, r/fragrance, r/colognecheck) and compared.
  3. You got a clear photo under the atomizerA close, in-focus shot of the sprayer and collar. This is where fakes give themselves away most.
  4. You got the batch code, on the bottle and the boxA readable photo of the code on the bottom of the bottle and on the box, and you checked it matches the year and format the house uses.
  5. You got lots of photos, including close-upsFront, back, cap, box on all sides, label print, and a close-up of anything that looked off. More is always better.
  6. You paid only through SniffyNo Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal or cash. Deals done outside Sniffy never qualify, no exceptions.
  7. You did the same checks on anything extraIf a bottle that wasn't in the original listing got added to the deal, you did this whole checklist for it too.
  8. Boxing video was used and uploadedThe sender filmed the bottle going into the box and it's uploaded to the trade in Sniffy.
  9. You filmed the entire unboxing, in one takeFrom the sealed package to the bottle in your hand, one continuous video with no cuts, uploaded to the trade.
  10. Under-the-atomizer check is in that same videoIn the same unboxing video, you show the sprayer, collar and batch code up close.
  11. You opened a dispute in timeYou reported the problem in Sniffy within the 48-hour inspection window, before confirming the trade.

What to ask for before you agree to anything.

Compare every photo against authentic references: the house's own site, Fragrantica photos, and community checks like r/fragrance and r/colognecheck. If anything doesn't match, or the seller won't send a photo you asked for, walk away. There will always be another bottle.

The fine print

  • The Vault isn't insurance. Payouts are decided by Sniffy after review, and are limited to what's in the Vault at the time.
  • You only qualify if every requirement above was met and the trade still went wrong. Skip one and the most you can get is the other side's deposit and/or the other side not being paid.
  • Trades paid or arranged outside Sniffy (Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, cash, DMs on other apps) never qualify.
  • One claim per person per trade. Claims have to be filed while the dispute is open.
  • Forfeited Sniffy Bonds go into the Vault.
  • Faking evidence or gaming the Vault gets your account banned.
