Most fragrance trading still happens in Reddit threads, Facebook groups and Discord servers, where one person ships first and hopes. Sniffy is a marketplace built specifically for bottle-for-bottle trading: both traders put down a refundable deposit, both ship at the same time with tracking, and the only money at stake while the bottles are in the mail is a refundable deposit. It is the only fragrance marketplace where trading is a first-class feature, not a workaround.

How a swap works
Five steps, both sides protected the whole way.
List what you're offering
Snap a real photo. Our AI screens it, checks it against the real bottle and fills in the details; add the batch code if you have it. Mark it trade or sale or trade.
Find a bottle and propose a swap
Pick from your own verified listings to offer, add a cash top-up if the values don't match, and send the proposal. Chat stays inside Sniffy.
Both sides put down a refundable deposit
The deposit is $25 by default, or set your own from $10 to $2,000 — it's insurance that both packages actually go out, and it comes back in full when both sides confirm. Alongside it, each side pays a $2 swap fee and $10.95 for the prepaid insured label ($37.95 total at the default deposit). Any cash top-up is held in escrow.
Ship at the same time, with tracking
Film your boxing video — it's on by default for swaps (either side can switch it off for that trade) — then print the prepaid, insured, tracked USPS ground label from the trade. When a video is required, the label won't generate until it's uploaded.
Confirm, and deposits come back
Each side checks the bottle against the listing — batch code, fill, condition — within the inspection window. Once both confirm, deposits are refunded in full and any cash top-up is released to the other side, minus Sniffy's 10% fee (5% with Gold).
What makes trading here safe
Deposits & escrow
Nobody ships first and hopes. Deposits cover a no-show; cash top-ups sit in escrow until the receiving side confirms.
Trust Scores
Every member has a public score built from completed trades, reviews and verification. You can see exactly who you're dealing with.
Videos & jurors
Require a boxing or unboxing video on any trade. If something goes wrong, a panel of experienced community jurors reviews the evidence and rules.
Every bottle traded on Sniffy has to be a real product from the house named in the listing. Imitation and counterfeit goods are prohibited, screened for at upload, removed on sight and grounds for a permanent ban. Read the full authenticity policy.
What trades well
Bottles with a clear market — Aventus, Layton, Erba Pura, Baccarat Rouge 540, Khamrah, Le Male Elixir — swap fastest because both sides know what they're worth. Budget bottles trade well in bundles. Decants and partials are fine as long as the fill level and batch are exact. Browse by fragrance or house to see what's live.

Frequently asked
How does a fragrance swap work on Sniffy?
Both traders list the bottles they're offering, agree on the swap in chat, and put down a small refundable deposit. Both ship at the same time with tracking. When each side confirms the bottle that arrived matches what was promised, both deposits are refunded in full. If one side doesn't ship, the other side is covered.
Does it cost anything to trade fragrances?
Each side pays a $2 non-refundable swap fee plus $10.95 for a prepaid, insured, tracked USPS label, on top of a refundable deposit — $25 by default, or set your own from $10 to $2,000. That's $37.95 charged per side at the default deposit, and the deposit comes back in full once both sides confirm receipt. Cancel before anyone ships and everything is refunded.
Can I trade a bottle plus cash for a more expensive one?
Yes. If the bottles aren't equal in value, you can agree a cash top-up in the trade, and that money is held in escrow the same way a sale is — released only after the receiving side confirms, minus Sniffy's 10% fee (5% with Gold).
What if the bottle I receive isn’t as described?
Open a dispute from the trade chat. Deposits and any cash stay frozen while it's reviewed. A boxing video is on by default for every swap (either side can switch it off for that trade), an unboxing video can be requested, and if it can't be settled a panel of experienced community jurors plus the Sniffy team decides by majority vote.
Can I trade decants or partial bottles?
Yes. Decants, partials and full bottles can all be listed for trade. Be exact about fill level and batch code — every trade is judged against the listing.
Why not just swap on Reddit, Facebook or Discord?
You can, but nobody is holding a deposit, nobody is keeping the batch code on record, and if the other person ghosts you there's no one to call. Sniffy adds escrow, deposits, Trust Scores, required videos and a dispute panel — the parts that make trading with a stranger safe.
